Why Your Life is Like a Freight Train

Every so often one of our chiropractic clients will ask one of the doctors when a certain symptom or complaint will begin to resolve. Even though they understand that they are at the Café of Life to facilitate the process of growing over the process of dying, they still have some concerns for when they will begin to feel better.

One of our wellness mentors, a visionary leader in field of natural health & healing often used this analogy, so I would like to answer this by first reminding you that everything in life is a process. This includes both the process of growing (healing) and the process of dying. And, all processes require time.

I would like to answer the question more specifically with a metaphor he called “The Freight Train.”

Let’s pretend you are traveling in a freight train at 60 miles per hour, when suddenly you realize you have been going in the wrong direction. Coming to a conscious awareness of this fact is the first important step in changing it, but concrete action steps are still required to do something about changing your situation.

Because your movement is a process that has some momentum, it is impossible to change your direction immediately. The first thing you need to do is stop going the wrong way. The best way to do this is to apply a positive force in the form of the brake. This slows the train over time, and eventually stops your momentum in the wrong direction.

Next, you reverse your force so that you are actually producing what you want (to go in the opposite direction). Slowly at first, then with increasing speed, you begin to travel back in the direction you came from. After a while, you reach the place where you first realized you were going the wrong way. Then you continue past that point until you reach the place where you started going the wrong way. Finally, you come to where you ultimately wanted to be in the first place.

When you began your care here, you were going in a specific direction. This direction was very likely opposite to what you desired. In the freight train example, you would have been moving toward sickness, aging and death.

At our wellness studio have begun applying a positive force to move you in the direction you want to go. This positive force is in the form of the gentle chiropractic adjustment, which increases the expression of your Innate Healing Life Energy by removing nerve interference and restoring the communication between your brain and all the cells of your body.

Just like our train, the first thing that must happen is a slowing down and stopping of the momentum in the wrong direction. Only then can a reversal occur and begin moving us in the right direction, toward growth and the full expression of health and Life!

The thing to get from this story is that everything is a process. When you are utilizing chiropractic care, you have begun the process of moving toward what you want, but it will take time to see some of the specific results you are hoping for.

One last thing, just like that freight train, as long as you keep applying a positive force in the direction you want to go, you will eventually go far past the point where your sickness process began and move toward bigger and brighter horizons than you may have been able to even imagine before. This is towards your original and true genetic health potential that has been suppressed!

You see, like everything else in life, your health development is a continual process. And as such, there is no “final destination!” By utilizing chiropractic care you are on the path to a happier, healthier and more active life.

Are you becoming a Boiled Frog?

Café LIFE

Are You Becoming A Boiled Frog?

There is a famous experiment that was performed over and over again in Jr. High schools up until the mid 1970’s. In fact, many people in our practice may have participated in it themselves! It was called “The Boiled Frog” experiment.

This is how the experiment went. First, a frog was dropped into a pot of boiling water. This was such a drastic change in temperature for the frog that he jumped out immediately.

Then, the same frog was placed into a pot of slightly warm water. Next, a burner was turned on under the pot. In this part of the experiment, the frog stayed put. Even as the temperature of the water got hotter and hotter, he didn’t move. The rising temperature didn’t seem to bother it in the least.

As the water temperature approached the boiling point, the frog seemed to sense that something was wrong, but it still didn’t move. Finally, as the water boiled, the frog died.

I know this is an incredibly cruel thing to do to a frog, and that’s probably why they don’t do that experiment in schools anymore. Still, there is a very interesting and valuable lesson we can take away from it.

You see, being cold blooded, the frog’s body compensated for the rising temperature of the water. But, these changes happened slowly enough that the frog was virtually unaware that they were even occurring. When it finally got to the point where the frog’s body was trying to warn it that something was wrong, it was too late for it to act, and it died.

“So?” you’re saying, “How does this relate to me? After all, the title of this article is “Are You Becoming A Boiled Frog?

Well, we are all exposed to destructive forces in the form of physical, chemical and emotional stresses every day. If these stresses are beyond our ability to adapt, they overwhelm our nerve systems. Since our nerve systems control every function in our bodies, we end up with dysfunction to some degree in many different areas. As the dysfunction continues, destructive changes occur in these same cells, tissues and organs slowly over time. They occur so slowly, in fact, that we might not notice that they are even occurring!

In other words, we are just like boiling frogs!

The good news is that we all have within us an innate wisdom or “Intelligence” that can help us adapt to all the stresses we encounter. But, it does much more than that! It also helps us heal any damage that has been occurring over time. And, best of all, when this “Life Force” is allowed to flow freely between your brain and all the cells of your body, you will have the opportunity to continue to grow and unfold into whatever you were ultimately meant to be in your life! Your Genetic Potential

The key here is that you must be free of nerve interference in order for that Intelligence to flow, and so must everyone else.
